Biography

I am seeking a stimulating child care environment that encourages my professional and personal growth, which I have been developing for over 16 years.
I am very mild-tempered, and I feel most comfortable whenever I have clear guidelines to follow. However, where children are concerned, I do an excellent job of taking the initiative and of making good, common sense decisions.

Experience

10/2005 - 9/2012 -- Lead Teacher - Young Children's Learning Center - Mocksville, N.C.     I worked with all age ranges under five years. My responsibilities were to ensure that children's physical and emotional needs were met while they learned through play. During my last year, I was a Lead Teacher for most classrooms, and I was additionally assigned as the assistant for the two-year-old classroom.

8/2001 - 2/2004 -- Lead Teacher - A Child's World Learning Center - Advance, N.C.     I worked as a Lead Teacher in the infant room, where there were twelve babies. Three adults shared the responsibilities for care-giving. My responsibilities included social and emotional development activities along with satisfying the children's physical needs.

6/2000 - 7/2001 -- Lead Teacher - The Secret Garden Child Development Center - Charlotte, N.C.     This is the same employer cited in the section beginning 2/1999. The age group for this term of employment ranged in ages from 12 to 18 months. During this employment, I took the North Carolina test for CredentialsI and Credentials II, and became officially accredited. The Secret Garden promoted me to being a Lead Teacher immediately. I was then given more responsibilities. As a Lead Teacher, I was responsible for organizing activities and creating lesson plans for my children.

9/1999 - 3/2000 -- Assistant Teacher - Chester Brook Academy - Charlotte, N.C.     I worked with children in the 18 to 24 months age group. This job increased my responsibilities. I helped in designing structured lesson plans. I worked closely with the teachers to stimulate the children’s social interactions. We worked to improve the children's motor skills and develop their language skills. This age group was more challenging than any of the other groups that I had worked with previously.

2/1999 - 9/1999 -- Assistant Teacher - The Secret Garden Child Development Center - Charlotte, N.C.     Worked as an Assistant Teacher with children in the 6 months to 12 months age group. Since my children were unusually young, the job required my concentration on assisting the children to develop primary motor skills and coordination. We did this through a variety of game activities.

8/1996 - 1/1999 -- Assistant Teacher - Peggy's Precious People Daycare - Hudson, MI.     This was a home-based daycare. We had 12 children in our care. The children's ages ranged from birth to six years. We also provided an after-school program for working parents.
